Sponsorship News conference doubles in size for 2023 event

I am thrilled to announce that the Sponsorship News Conference has expanded, doubling in size compared to our last event!

This year's conference will feature a total of 14 sessions, including two special keynote presentations that are sure to impress and make this the must-attend conference of the year.

As speakers finalise their participation, I can already provide a sneak peek at some of the fantastic sessions scheduled for June 14th at Royal Randwick Racecourse in Sydney.

To address the numerous major global events approaching our shores, we have assembled a panel of industry experts to discuss the intricate sponsorship programs accompanying these mega-events.

Delegates can look forward to insights from Michael Bushell and Damien Moston of Sportfive, former CEO of the FIBA Basketball World Cup Melissa King, and Krystyna Frassetto from M&C Saatchi Sports and Entertainment, who will discuss her agency's experience with the Australian Olympic movement.

Additionally, sponsorship valuation specialists Liam Randell from YouGov, Nick Stace from Nielsen, and Steve Whately from Greenroom Digital will explore the critical services they offer rights holders and sponsors in a session moderated by Andrew Clarke. This session promises to be highlight of the day, shedding light on the essential role of sponsorship valuation in the industry.

Mark Edney of Traffik will delve into the creative side of sponsorships, showcasing inspiring examples and examining them from a unique perspective. We eagerly anticipate the announcement of more speakers for this session.

Legal aspects of IP and the role of athletes in sponsorships will just be a few themes covered by experts Sven Burchartz from Kalus Kenny Intelex Lawyers and Mat Jessep from Game Corp. This informative session will provide delegates with valuable, actionable insights.

Additional sessions, moderated by industry leaders from Gemba, Bastion, and M&C Saatchi Sport and Entertainment, will feature a range of fascinating sponsors. Stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks.

Seven new sessions added for 2023

As for the seven new sessions, I have focused on exploring themes in sports infrastructure and technology, as well as topics that don't typically fit into our conferences. We have already shortlisted several promising ideas, which we hope to confirm soon.

While still awaiting confirmation, we are excited to potentially collaborate with the Australian Sports Technologies Network for a session showcasing innovative local technology that will captivate delegates. Furthermore, we plan to incorporate a strong tech component with Komo Technologies and Meshh, who previously shared valuable insights at our Melbourne conference last October, invited to share their emerging technologies.

We have also reached out to the founders of the new Australian hydration brand Superboost to share their brand story and explain how they are using sponsorship and athlete endorsements to shape their brand. We expect to confirm this session next week.

In a bid to innovate, we will be testing a new conference format called the Activate Showcase, which will focus on the art of activations through case studies. We have invited activation expert and Traffik founder James Neale, who recently established a new specialist agency, to run this session. This trial will serve as a teaser for a larger event centred around activations later in the year.

As I continue to finalise themes and speakers for the remaining sessions, I welcome any suggestions you may have.
